Motivation for Being Faithful

It’s a common trait to want to take the path of least resistance. For the original recipients of Peter’s first letter, the path of least resistance was to pull back on their commitment to Christ. To encourage these early followers of Christ, Peter lays out at the end of chapter one some strong motivation to be faithful. Join us as we seek to be motivated in our walk with Christ.

Traits Seen in the Family of God

Every family has certain traits, both physical and emotional. When looking at the family of God, there will be certain behavioral traits on display. As we begin chapter two of 1 Peter, we will discover there are certain expectations for those that claim that they have been born again. Join us as we discover what should be on display in our lives if we claim faith in Christ.

How to Respond When Being Lied About?

The Apostle Peter is writing to believers who were victims of an orchestrated disinformation campaign, being waged by the Roman government. When lies are being told about us, anger is our natural response. However, Peter encourages us to go in a completely different direction. Join us in our study of 1 Peter chapter 2, as we look into the Biblical response to slander.

When Life Isn’t Fair

As we move to the final verses of 1 Peter chapter 2, the Apostle is dealing with injustice. It is in these verses that we learn that every follower of Christ has the same calling. That calling is that we are to handle injustice the very same way that Christ handled it. Join us as we look at the impossible path that every disciple is called to walk upon.

Authentic Christianity

Counterfeit faith can have dire consequences. Coming near the end of our study in the book of James, the author now lays out markers that indicate what authentic faith in Christ will produce in our lives. Join us as we seek to discover if our faith is authentic or if it’s a cheap imitation.

Authenticity Part 2

We close out our study in James with James giving the final word on authentic Christianity. This section of Scripture provides with a clear understanding of what the lifestyle of a Biblical follower of Christ is going to look like. Last time, we saw James tell the first two markers of authenticity were endurance and a commitment to keep one’s word. Join us now as see what the final two markers are.

Having Hope in a Hostile World

As we begin our study in 1 Peter, the Apostle is writing to those who have experienced suffering. When suffering comes we often times lose our perspective on who we are. Join us as we are reminded who we are in Christ.

The Central Dogma of Christianity

In Church life we find many things that we can disagree on that are not central to the Faith. In such cases, we agree to disagree, and we continue to love one another and pray for each other. However, as we focus on 1 Peter chapter one once again, we come to a theological issue that we must never compromise on. Join us as we look at what is absolutely central to our Faith.

A Change of Perspective

Stress has a way of distorting our outlook on life. Pain, anxiety, and disappointment can cause us to see hopelessness in all directions. In our study of 1 Peter, the Apostle speaks a word of hope to the disciples of Christ who find themselves facing great challenges to their faith. Join us in our study as Peter lays out for us what is to be the disciple’s perspective on life.
